A Brief Look at Dementia

Dementia is actually a stand in for a lot of different symptoms and not a single disease. Damage to the brain cells are what cause dementia. The damage can cause issues with behavior, thoughts, or the ability to recall information.

Dementia does not have a cure and is terminal, however it can take years for it to reach end stage. Alzheimer’s disease is the most widely known cause of dementia, but it can also be called by:

  • A history of depression, large fluctuations in sleep habits, or abusing drugs or alcohol
  • Parkinson’s or Huntington’s
  • Tumor, Blood clots, Stroke, or infection
